| Seminar Short Desc | This workshop is for grade K-5 teachers that have already been introduced to the Advancing STEM Kits, or have been using them already in their classroom, and would like to take a closer look with other teachers with similar experiences. |
| Seminar Full Desc | Any grade K-5 teacher that has been introduced to the Advancing STEM Kits, or has been using them already, and wants to take a closer look at kits from their grade level. Grade levels will be grouped together to discuss best practices and nuances of the CA BOCES Advancing STEM Kits. Teachers will have an opportunity to experience selected lessons and activities in all of the kits and get to interact with the materials and online resources (please bring a device). |
| Workshop Full Desc | Grades 3, 4, and 5 teachers will experience selected lessons and activities in the kits and get to interact with the materials and online resources. In the morning of the first day, there will be a walkthrough of the structure of an Advancing STEM kit and all of the resources available to teachers, an overview of the new NYS Science Learning Standards, 3-dimensional learning, and the 5E lesson structure, and a discussion around the new NYS Required Science Investigations. During the afternoon of the first day and the entire second day, grade levels will rotate through stations, working on activities from their corresponding grade levels. |
