Seminar Short DescA collaborative learning community for educators interested in computer coding.
Seminar Full DescAccording to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, by 2020 there will be 1 million more computing jobs in than workers to fill them. Coding teaches problem solving, how to think about one's thinking, debugging, resilience, computational thinking, and helps with confidence.

During this CLC, teachers will learn to create their own video games, program in Python, and problem solve on different resources. Teachers will be placed in the shoes of students and use what they learn not only to teach these important skills, but more importantly will require students to do upper level cognitive work while being extremely engaged.
Workshop Full DescComputer programming or coding is a great opportunity to teach students to be logical thinkers and help them get jobs in a growing field. This CLC is great for any content teacher who is interested in learning something new, is curious about coding, or wants to test their growth mindset. During this CLC, teachers will learn to create their own video games, program in Python, and problem solve on different resources. They will learn to run their own "hour of code" session at their own comfort level with very close guidance.
