Seminar Full Desc | This interactive workshop, "Women in Tech," equips educators with strategies and resources to integrate diverse female role models into computer science instruction. This workshop is designed for educators and aligned to the NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency (CSDF) standard 4-6.IC.7, which states that students should be able to "Identify a diverse range of role models in computer science".
In the workshop, participants will explore the historical and contemporary contributions of women in computing, with a focus on ensuring representation across race, culture, and background. Some of the women that we will discuss include Ada Lovelace, who is often considered the first computer programmer, Grace Hopper, who was a pioneer of computer programming languages, and Kimberly Bryant, founder of Black Girls CODE .
