Seminar Full DescTeachers will better understand the shifts associated with the new NYS Science Learning Standards and have concrete ideas of how to implement the science and engineering practices in their current classrooms. Teachers will find similiarities and differences between how they are currently teaching science and what is entailed in teaching NYSSLS. Teachers will begin to identify their own personal learning goals and objectives as they shift their teaching.
Workshop Full DescTeachers will continue to look at the three-dimensional teaching dealing with SEPs (Science & Engineering Practices), CCCs (Cross-Cutting Concepts), and DCIs (Disciplinary Core Idea). Teachers will revisit and dig deeper into the scope and sequence of the new science standards, continue to break down the Performance Expectations, and collaborate with groups to answer lingering questions about the new standards. This session is geared toward participants that have experience with the standards but would like to refresh or revisit to dig deeper.
