Seminar Short DescMaking connections, whether between skills or content areas, is an effective instructional strategy. In this workshop, we will explore how computer science can be used as a vehicle to intentionally target learning in middle/high school mathematics classrooms.
Seminar Full DescNow that the Computer Science and Digital Literacy Fluency Learning Standards have been released (currently in draft) by NYSED, mathematics teachers have increased opportunity to leverage computer science skills as a means to make connections and increase students' mathematics proficiency. In this workshop, we will explore resources such as bootstrapworld.org, csandmath.org, and Math Adventures with Python on day 1 to build capacity around computer science integrations. On day 2, participants will work to create new learning opportunities integrating computer science as a means of improving mathematics proficiency through increased connections targeting specific content learning standards.
