Seminar Full Desc | This workshop helps build understanding of the what and why of PBL for educators, and can be a powerful way to prepare them for the 3-day PBL 101 workshop, which focuses on how to plan and implement projects for their own classrooms. It can also serve as a wonderful refresh and reconnection for staff who have already experienced the PBL 101 workshop.
The day mirrors the flow of a larger project. Teams will work together to build knowledge, understanding, and success skills, and develop and critique products and answers to the project driving question. At key moments throughout the day, participants will be encouraged to put on their teacher hats and reflect on the pedagogical moves they are experiencing as PBL learners, as well as implications for their own contexts. Plan for a highly interactive day together! Participants will connect with the facilitator and each other. The workshop includes whole group work, small group activities, reflection and critique, and individual learning (with some voice and choice) as well as a number of built-in break times. The session is 6 hours with 1 additional hour for lunch. There will be activities that get participants out of their seats, opportunities to have fun with other participants, and independent time to work on presentations. |
Workshop Full Desc | Embark on your PBL journey! In this workshop, participants will discover why PBL should be the main course, not just the dessert. Plan for a highly interactive learning experience! Facilitated by one of our expert National Faculty, PBL Quickstart is a balanced blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, and peer collaboration. The workshop includes whole group work, small group discussions, refl ection and critique, individual learning (with some voice and choice), and several built-in break times. The workshop is 6 hours long, with an additional 1 hour for lunch. |
