Seminar Short DescLibrarians will review research strategies for helping students conduct thorough and efficient research. This session will cover: narrowing down a topic, formulating research questions, navigating scholarly databases, and using Noodletools from a student and teacher perspective. A review of OverDrive Marketplace and Q & A on Sora will be provided at the end of the day.
Seminar Full DescThis workshop will provide the opportunity for participants to review the research process and help students succeed in the research process. We'll discuss narrowing down a topic and forming a research question, reviewing effective searches on scholarly databases, locating and using helpful resources for evaluating information, and organizing notes in Noodletools. We'll also review Marketplace and Sora.

You will need to access Noodletools from your laptop. Please make sure you can do this prior to this workshop.

* review K-12 research scaffold
* review how to guide students in narrowing a topic and developing a research question
* navigate databases in Novel NY and use various tools to differentiate instruction
* review Noodletools, OverDrive Marketplace, and Sora

* select a topic for research based on personal interest
* use Novel NY to locate peer reviewed articles, narrow the topic, and develop a research question
* use Noodletools to organize notes, cite articles, create an outline, view student and teacher dashboards
* access Marketplace to run reports, check account balance, create carts, access reviews, and purchase titles.
