Seminar Short DescK-2 teachers and leaders will learn about the NYS P-12 Science Learning Standards and dig into the Advancing STEM kits with colleagues.
Seminar Full DescK-2 teachers and leaders will learn about the NYS P-12 Science Learning Standards. Participants will be engaged in a portion of a 3-dimensional lesson that aligns with the new standards, break down a 3-dimensional standard into its components, learn why we are changing the way we teach science, and how to support student learning so students are engaged, excited, and prepared for progressing to more complex critical thinking in upper grade levels. Teachers will spend the afternoon digging into an Advancing STEM kit of their choice, being able to discuss nuances of the kits with colleagues, offer advice to each other, ask questions of the STEM coordinator, or offer feedback about modifications they would like to see.
