Seminar ObjectivesAnswer questions related to Insignia and available resources; reviewed her SLO plans for grades; helped move Young Adult collection to new location.
Work Summary-Prior to my visit, Sally notified teachers that I would be on site and available.
-Sally and I reviewed her SLO since she felt they were confusing and not directly related to instruction. I agreed since they were taken from the Internet and not all align with NY's Information Fluency Continuum. I penciled in my thoughts and recommended Sally provide a blank copy of SLO to Karen Insley for review and then meet to compare and discuss.
-Young Adult collection was moved from library now serving grades K-5 into room across the hall.
Assessment of Learning-Although I was available to teachers, no one came to see me.
-Sally and I discussed her SLOs and I explained my concerns. She agreed.
-In moving the Young Adult collection, I pulled some titles that were really outdated, worn, or a duplicate. The Superintendent didn't want books weeded so they are on a priority list for weeding whenever that is approved.
Evaluation Summary NotesConversations and Sally's acceptance of my feedback. Entire Young Adult collection relocated.
Needed Changes-Additional shelving for ms/hs needed. Books are piled on top of one another leading to disorganization. Superintendent had told Sally that the local Amish make the shelves. Not sure if additional shelving will be added this year since the capital project is still not finished.
Next StepsFollow up with Karen Insley, out of professional courtesy, to the conversation I had with Sally.
