-Gain insight into district's student goals for 2022-2023 and how to support through the library program
Work Summary-Discussed the layout of the library and how instruction will be provided to elementary students. Currently, the library is sharing space with the nurse's office. This limits ms/hs student access to resources. The principal is hoping that the nurse's office can be reduced to its original size sometime before school starts. He is waiting to hear from NYSED on what is being recommended for school re-openings
-Principal shared that a main goal of the school is to get students reading and develop a love or reading. We compiled the number of book check-outs from the past three years and set a goal for the coming year. Another goal is improving student writing skills and this can easily be incorporated into lessons (Text Size)
-Teacher will be in district M-W-F. Students are 1:1 with 3rd grade and up being able to take home devices. This means training on SORA is warranted and will help meet the school's goal for reading achievement
-Teacher accessed Noodletools and created a project, downloaded citations from GALE into Noodletools, created notecards and created an outline.
Assessment of Learning-Participant asked relevant questions and took notes
-With only 30 minutes of instructional time, facilitator recommended teacher communicate with teachers to have library books returned on the morning of library class. Checking books in at the beginning of the day and preparing overdue notices, will allow for better use of instructional time and students' selections of books
-Teacher participated in activities and training on Noodletools
Evaluation Summary Notes-All trainings and discussions went well
Needed Changes-Nothing at this time
Next Steps-Follow up with teacher at the beginning of September regarding library space. If available, does she need help with relocating books and organizing the space
-Occasional follow-up on meeting school goals - stats on book checkouts, increased love of reading among students
