Seminar Full DescWhen we ask students to memorize their facts, we are essentially asking them to memorize over 100 isolated equations. This approach does not allow students to explore the relationships between numbers that are foundational to mathematics. In this session, we will explore the important role that context plays in developing fact fluency. By purposefully sequencing a series of tasks and activities through the same context, students can begin to make connection and develop an understanding that is scalable well beyond single digits.
Workshop Full DescJoin teachers from around the region for this 3-day training as we welcome a guest speaker to talk about 3 Act Math Tasks. Additional topics that will be discussed include curriculum alignment, data, and instructional best practices in the mathematics classroom. By the end of the three days, participants should have a more firm understanding of how 3 Act Math Tasks can be utilized in the classroom, be better prepared for the implementation of the Next Generation Learning Standards for the 2021-2022 school year, and come away with a plethora of instructional best practices they can use in the classroom immediately.
