Seminar Short DescJoin us for a CA BOCES and SUNY New Paltz Science of Reading hybrid learning opportunity! This is a workshop series where participants will work through online materials and meet face-to-face while studying best practices in instruction aligned to the Science of Reading research.
Seminar Full DescThe New York State Education Department (NYSED) and Board of Regents are committed to ensuring that every student has access to high-quality instruction and to fostering a culture of reading and writing excellence across the state. NYSED understands the critical role that literacy plays in shaping the future of individuals and communities.

In alignment with this commitment, Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES is dedicated to providing professional development in the Science of Reading. The Science of Reading Fundamentals introduces innovative, evidence-based tools and concepts that are a valuable complement to any P-12 literacy curriculum and serve as a useful starting point for anyone interested in the latest research about how children learn to read.

CA BOCES will provide a hybrid learning opportunity in collaboration with SUNY New Paltz. During this workshop series, participants will work through online material and meet face-to-face. The SUNY New Paltz online series is comprised of five online learning modules that learners will complete in up to six months. The modules include units on Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension. In between modules, participants will come together to process their learning with regional colleagues at CA BOCES. Please view the attached brochure for more details regarding the workshop series.
