Seminar Short DescThis series of workshops will prepare school counselors with the skills and practices needed for the 2017-2018 implementation of PK-12 comprehensive school counseling programs. Additional dates during the 2016-17 school year will provide continued implementation support, including the development of district-wide and building-level comprehensive school counseling plans.
Seminar Full DescWith the support of CA BOCES and successful ASCA framework practitioners, school counselors will design and deliver comprehensive school counseling programs that promote student achievement. These programs are comprehensive in scope, preventative in design, and developmental in nature. The May 10th session will outline the components of a comprehensive school counseling program using the ASCA National Model: foundation, management, delivery, and accountability. The focus for the summer sessions will be to prepare counselors with the knowledge, skills, and appropriate practices needed to implement a Comprehensive School Counseling Program:
- counseling/program audit
- data profiles
- goal setting
- curriculum mapping
- data informed program/intervention decisions
- how to use data to evaluate programs/interventions
- action plans
- calendar development
