| Seminar Short Desc | Explore Your Environment is an interdisciplinary, hands-on curriculum that uses the forest as a window on the world. These lessons are fun, hands-on activities with emphasis on science, reading, writing, mathematics, and social studies that engage students in learning - both outside and indoors. Topics include trees and forests, wildlife, water, air, energy, waste, invasive species, and more. The training is co-presented by the NYS DEC and all participants receive a free curriculum guide. |
| Seminar Full Desc | The Explore Your Environment Professional Development Course supports formal and nonformal educators, as well as natural resource professionals, in effectively leading activities with youth. All activities have been thoroughly field-tested by educators working with students in the classroom and in nonformal settings. In addition to inquiry-based instruction and outdoor teaching and learning, Explore Your Environment activities employ differentiated instruction strategies, career connections, STEM skills building, and authentic assessment.
