| Seminar Full Desc | Join us for an engaging two-day professional learning experience designed to strengthen mathematics instruction for K-5 educators. This institute will provide practical strategies, collaborative opportunities, and research-based approaches to help teachers deepen their understanding of math content and pedagogy.
All work across these two days will be aligned to the New York State Numeracy Briefs, ensuring that strategies and discussions reflect statewide priorities for building strong numeracy foundations. Over the course of two days, participants will: 1. Explore high-leverage strategies for teaching mathematics, including effective methods for solving word problems and supporting students' reasoning. 2. Learn how to use multiple representations, visual, numerical, and symbolic, to build conceptual understanding and support diverse learners. 3. Review regional student performance data to identify trends and inform instructional decisions. 4. Practice leading rich mathematical conversations tailored to a variety of grade levels, fostering discourse that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving. 5. Engage in collaborative planning sessions, where educators can share ideas, design lessons, and refine instructional practices for immediate classroom application. This institute is designed to be interactive and flexible, allowing for adjustments as we approach the event to ensure relevance and responsiveness to participants' needs. |
