Workshop Full DescDAY ONE SESSION DESCRIPTION
Participants will deepen their understanding of the prevalence of childhood trauma and the impact of trauma and toxic stress on learning and development; will begin to really look at need versus behavior and given opportunities for developing self-awareness around this topic; will be introduced to the New 3 R s and strategies associated with working with students impacted by trauma and will being to look at importance of team and fostering a culture of safety in support of both their own health and that of their students.

DAY TWO SESSION DESCRIPTION
Participants will be introduced to and provided with opportunities to explore more in-depth the importance of fostering a culture of safety, predictability, and consistency; what it truly means to work as a team and address our students collectively; really tackle the New Three R s (Relationship, Responsibility, and Regulation) and identify ways to implement these interventions in their schools; and further explore how to sustain a healthy work-life balance. Attendees will be given opportunities to collaborate and problem-solve scenarios associated with fostering a trauma sensitive environment.

DAY THREE SESSION DESCRIPTION
Participants will work in teams to identify key plans and strategies to support this work in their settings. Teams will collaborate around how to strengthen the knowledge base and expand the array #TraumaInvested strategies. Participants will work to deepen the implementation of #TraumaInvested structures, approaches, and strategies at their individual school, team/grade, and teacher levels and will leave the day with a working plan for implementation and sustainability centered at becoming #TraumaInvested schools.
Workshop AudienceWe are requesting schools to attend as teams. Your team should include:

1 building administrator
2-3 teachers
1 specialist teacher (e.g., art, physical education, etc.)
1 counselor, social worker, or someone with similar credentials
Workshop PrerequisitesNone
Workshop Objectives1. Participants will deepen their understanding of the value of fostering a safe, predictable, and consistent learning environment
2. Participants will ensure their understanding of key vocabulary and research around childhood trauma and our need to create a #TraumaInvested learning environment.
3. Participants will explore multiple strategies for education staff and community members to utilize with children with (known and unknown) trauma histories helping to sustain learning-ready states
4. Participants will collaborate to identify ways to support a team approach to addressing students needs in a strength based way
5. Participants will collaborate and refine their school wide plans to implement #TraumaInvested approaches and mindsets in their buildings in order to support adults and our students in a strengths-based manner.
6. Participants will explore strategies for communication with caregivers around supporting student learning.
7. Participants will reflect on how this information impacts their role and their overall health, collecting suggestions for self-care and self-awareness.
8. Participants will participate in problem solving scenario opportunities to build on skills and strengths in addressing student need.
9. Participants will reflect on and develop implementation and sustainability #TraumaInvested practices they can take back with them to their teams
10. Participants will reflect on the importance of a healthy work-life balance and its value in fostering and sustaining a trauma sensitive environment.
Assessment of LearningParticipants will develop a school plan for implementing the practices learned in the course.
