Workshop Full DescThis session is designed for district and BOCES leadership teams focused on implementing the New York Portrait of a Graduate. Participants will explore what it means to create reflective, future-focused learning environments and examine the conditions that support student identity, belonging, and self-direction. Through guided discussion and planning, teams will identify practical strategies for embedding the Portrait into existing systems, structures, and instructional practices.
Session Outcomes: To explore the 6 components of the PoG guidance: Effective Communicator, Creative Innovator, Academically Prepared, Reflective and Future-focused, Critical Thinker and Global Citizen as it applies to our State and regional students.
Participants will:
Examine the role of the New York Portrait of a Graduate in fostering deeper learning.
Identify the conditions needed to support reflective, future-focused environments.
Review current district structures and identify practical next steps to explore how the Portrait of a Graduate competencies can be integrated into existing initiatives and instructional practices.
