Workshop Full Desc | Artificial Intelligence(AI) is everywhere, from GPS navigation systems, Alexa at-home devices, face ID technology, and now, you can use it to write emails, text messages, to create art, and more. AI has the potential to transform traditional teaching and learning methods by providing personalized learning experiences and enhancing student engagement. This workshop will explore lesson ideas, activities, and strategies on how special educators can utilize AI to the fullest.
We will start by discussing the basics of AI and how it works, followed by exploring its applications in the special education setting. We will dive into various AI tools and platforms that can be used in the classroom, such as virtual assistants, chatbots, and intelligent tutoring systems, which can help educators to craft letters or emails, write lesson plans, quizzes, teach writing, digital literacy, and more. We will also explore AI tools that can help teachers provide personalized learning experiences for each student as well as support Specially Designed Instruction as well as Differentiated Instruction. AI-powered tools can analyze student data, identify knowledge gaps, and provide targeted recommendations for individualized learning paths. In addition, we will discuss the ethical considerations of using AI in the classroom, including data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the need for responsible AI education, and how educators can incorporate these topics into their lessons to prepare students for the future of work in our AI-driven world. Throughout the workshop, participants will have time to explore and create using various AI tools so they can bring a lesson or a resource(s) back to their classrooms. |
