Workshop Full DescThis focused book study features two insightful texts: What the Science of Reading Says About Writing & What the Science of Reading Says About Reading Comprehension and Content Knowledge. Facilitated by the School Library System Directors, this study invites school librarians to explore strategies that enhance reading and writing skills while strengthening library instruction and teacher collaboration.

The study will run from November through April with online sessions, culminating in an in-person workshop on May 21st. Full engagement and participation are expected to make the most of this enriching experience. We look forward to learning and growing together!

Workshop ObjectivesAs a result of this workshop, participants will:
Gain a deeper understanding of the librarian's role in teaching reading comprehension and writing
Utilize strategies with students for an actionable plan
Design lessons that support content areas using learned strategies
Assessment of LearningAs a result of this workshop, participants will:
Demonstrate an understanding of content through self-reflection and real experiences
Participate in online forums, small and large group discussions
Share real examples of how strategies were implemented in the library and what the results were
