Workshop Full DescWriting is a complex task--and today's students must learn to write proficiently and write to learn in different content areas. The Writing Rope: A Framework for Explicit Writing Instruction in All Subjects clearly explains the intertwined skills and processes involved in writing well: transcription, writing craft, critical thinking, syntax, and text structure. Steeped in writing research and packed with reproducible handouts and templates, this book provides the knowledge and resources educators need to help students master writing.

The workshop will kick off will be face to face on September 26, 2023 and there will be 3 follow up dates to connect, share and continue learning via Zoom during the school year.

Workshop ObjectivesJoan Sedita's innovative Writing Rope weaves multiple skills and strategies into five fundamentals of a comprehensive writing curriculum: critical thinking, syntax (sentences), text structure, writing craft, and transcription (spelling and handwriting).

Teachers of Grades 4-8 will get crystal-clear guidelines that demystify the process of helping students learn to write and write to learn across academic content areas. And with dozens of included templates, handouts, and other resources available for download online teachers will have all the tools they need to design and deliver explicit, high-quality writing instruction.

Tthis invaluable planning guide will help teachers apply the science of reading to the skill of writing and help students master a critically important aspect of literacy.
