Workshop Full DescSelf-Care Circles are an approach for proactively building the skills and relationships we will need when challenges arise this school year. Jillian Putnam and Tessa Levitt, CA BOCES Coordinators for Professional Development, will lead self-care circles once a month. Each month, the topic will center on the monthly theme from the Onward Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators text written by Elena Aguilar. These self-care circles will focus on the habits of resilience needed to overcome obstacles as we move onward this school year.

Virtual restorative circles are the antidote for a great way to stay together when we have to be so far apart. These sessions will focus on SEL for school personnel by providing a restorative circle for teachers to connect, share ideas, and support each other. This circle will model best practices for self-care, mindset, and the importance of positivity.

Workshop Objectives-Participants will identify the social and emotional benefits of virtual restorative practice circles and how this can transform into virtual instruction with students.
-Participants will experience the components of a virtual circle and identify best practices.
Assessment of Learning-Participants will respond to SEL circle prompts through experiential practice and have opportunities to self-reflect and collaborate with colleagues around the region to discuss implementation and best practices for SEL with students and adults.
