Workshop Full Desc | CA BOCES, along with Erie 1, Erie 2 & ON BOCES has invited ALA's Diversity, Literacy & Outreach Services to present on the topic of cultural competence, implicit bias, and privilege. Each session builds off the other and space is limited to 12 participants from each BOCES. |

Workshop Objectives | Cultural Competence: be grounded in culture as a concept and a common definition; explore and define cultural awareness and cultural humility; examine cultural norms and identities.
Implicit Bias: develop a common definition of implicit bias, build awareness of implicit bias as it plays out in systems and individuals, explore ways to disrupt biases. Privilege: Explore the notion of privilege as a social justice concept; unpack personal identity in relation to privilege; examine how privilege impacts systems and institutions, including libraries. |
