Workshop Short DescThis four week book study will lead school librarians through an evaluation of current library services so each may determine areas of weaknesses in need of improvement. Books used by the facilitator include Bite-Sized Marketing: Realistic Solutions for the Over-Worked Librarian by Nancy Dowd, Mary Evangeliste, and Jonathan Silberman; and Marketing With Social Media by Beth C. Thomsett-Scott. Various articles and ALA's Toolkit for Marketing will also be used for instruction and discussion.

Workshop Full DescThis four week book study will lead school librarians through an evaluation of current library services so each may determine areas of weaknesses in need of improvement. Each participant will create a plan of action using SMART goals, which will drive their PD for 2020-2021.

Workshop ObjectivesLibrarians will:
- Identify school's vision and mission statements
- Consult the S.L.M.P.E. rubric which lists components of an exemplary school library program
- Create a S.W.O.T. analysis of their library program
- Analyze portions of texts from books and articles and participate in topic related discussions with colleagues
- Discuss various strategies for increasing weaknesses and building on strengths
- Develop S.M.A.R.T. goals for their library program and choose an accountability partner
Assessment of LearningLibrarians will:
- Submit school's vision and mission statement to the facilitator
- Submit a copy of their S.L.M.P.E. rubric (self-evaluation of library program)
- Submit a copy of the S.W.O.T. analysis
- Participate in Zoom breakout rooms to discuss readings
- Develop and submit S.M.A.R.T. goals for their library program that will help drive PD for 2020-2021
- Choose an accountability partner for the 2020-2021 academic year
