Workshop Full Desc | Guidance and resources are available for local school authorities and religious and independent schools regarding the statutory requirement for substantial equivalency of instruction at nonpublic schools to ensure that all students receive the education to which they are entitled.
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) engaged in a deliberative and thoughtful process over two years to update the guidance, which reflects current law and feedback from both public and religious and independent school communities. NYSED will begin to hold trainings for both public and nonpublic school leaders on the guidance in December 2018 and continuing in 2019. The trainings will assist both the LSA and religious and independent school officials to support and promote consistency in the process. LSA and nonpublic school leaders who will be involved in the process are expected to attend trainings offered by NYSED. |
