| Seminar Objectives | -Eleigh Walker is working on her master's degree from the University of Albany. One requirement is for her to watch a librarian providing instruction. The other is to have her mentor (me) observe her teaching and provide feedback. |

| Work Summary | -When I arrived, I was prepared to instruct 4th grade students on the non-fiction picture book Dave to Potter. I introduced the term inference and we discussed how authors often make inferences from facts to help tell a story. I also reviewed examples of similes and provided them with a worksheet to list one fact and one simile from the story as I read it aloud. Eleigh and I briefed the lesson afterward. I observed Eleigh providing instruction to a class of 3rd graders on the use of an atlas. After the class left, Eleigh and I debriefed her instruction, classroom management, and assessment of student learning |
