Seminar Objectives-Participants will have an opportunity to:
Self-reflect on beliefs and knowledge about poverty
-Explore how poverty affects classroom engagement through Eric Jensen's 7 Differences
-Focus on student, professional and system education framework as it relates to the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework
-Explore the concept of "Joy" and strategies for cultivating a culture of joy
Work Summary-Participants completed a self-reflections activity called "Student Profiles" and shared response to group questions. Participants then examined Andover CSD data around poverty and identified the many faces of engagement. This activity was then connected to the CRSF specifically the Welcoming and Affirming environments section where participants examined each bullet point and identified if they were currently focused on it, working on it, or haven't started yet. Participants then experienced self-reflections around building connections with students and the "Joy" of teaching
Assessment of Learning-Participants actively participated during the sessions and completed a micro goal and evaluation for next steps
Evaluation Summary Notes-Participants enjoyed the resources that were provided and the strategies for creating an environment that focuses on all learners
