Seminar Objectives-Participants will understand a basic overview of the Computer Science/Digital Fluency Standards (CS & DF)
-Increased awareness of what the standards are and the five concepts
-Identify where the standards are currently being addressed within current curriculum/activities
-Brainstorm opportunities to fill gaps within the classroom setting
Work SummaryTeachers will:
-Explore and review all standards in all five concepts of the CSDF standards
-Review current curriculum standards and units to find connections to standards
-Develop activities to explicitly teach/address/identify CSDF skills in classroom environment
Assessment of Learning-Teachers complete a teacher implementation guide to document next to each student what the skill is within each standards, if it is embedded currently, not embedded, or could be embedded. If the skill is currently embedded, teachers will identify what content the standard is being connected with
Evaluation Summary Notes-Strategies were provided to implement the standards
-Participants were happy to find out they are already addressing some of the standards
-Participants felt the material was clear and easy to understand
Needed Changes-Participants are requesting additional professional development on technology tools available to them either through the district or through CA BOCES
Next Steps-Follow up conversations are scheduled with the district to schedule additional professional development on applicable resources to assist with the Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards
