Seminar Short Desc | The Reading Cafe provides middle and high-school ELA teachers an opportunity to discuss contemporary works of fiction and non-fiction. The first novel is Jeff Zentner's In the Wild Light (August 5, 2021): an unforgettable story of friendship, loss, and new beginnings: a poignant coming-of-age novel about two best friends whose connection is tested when they get the opportunity to leave their impoverished small town for an elite prep school. |
Seminar Full Desc | This one's for teachers:
The Reading Cafe provides middle and high-school ELA teachers an opportunity to discuss contemporary works of fiction and non-fiction. The second book is Dan Harris' memoir 10% Happier: the 2019 Revised Edition: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works--A True Story. Teachers have experienced a tremendous amount of stress over the last three years. Harris' book is part-science, part-memoir, and part self-help; he outlines specific ways that he learned to deal with stress and improve his life. Join me and teachers from around the region as we work through Harris' experience and discovery. The first 15 registered will receive a copy of the book. |
