Seminar Objectives-Grades K and 3 the students learned how to play Gimkit, an interactive review game.
-The teachers learned how Gimkit works with a live demonstration
-Grade 2 the students learned how to play Lightbot and we introduced Puzzlets
-Grades 4 & 5 the students learned the basics of the Pyonkee app
-Some teachers participated in the activity as well, while others just observed and asked questions
Work Summary-Facilitator visited 8 different classrooms while at the district and demonstrated and facilitated a different app in each classroom (see the specific apps above)
-Students played with their iPads
Assessment of Learning-The active participation from all the students told the facilitator that they learned how to play/interact with the app
-Facilitator has a meeting day planned on January 30th where she is going to go in and talk with the teachers individually to see what else they would like, or how we can improve the tech time
Evaluation Summary Notes-Students were really engaged and seemed to understand Gimkit, Lightbot and the Puzzlets quickly
-Students wanted to continue playing because they enjoyed it so much
-Pyonkee seemed to be more challenging, but the students are excited to continue learning the app
Needed Changes-For the next visit facilitator will increase the level of difficulty
-Facilitator will reassess the apps that we are using in each grade level based upon the meetings that the facilitator has with the teachers on the 30th
Next Steps-Facilitator will return to the classrooms in 2 weeks where we will continue our learning
-Grades 2, 4, and 5 will move to the next level of Lightbot/Pyonkee
-Facilitator will reassess with K and grade 3 to see which next steps they would like to take
-Facilitator will encourage teachers to make appointments on the 30th so the facilitator can show them how to use the apps on their own, so that they can continue using it in their classrooms
