Seminar Full Desc | Participants will have more time to navigate the online Portal (please bring a device); learn tips and tricks to make class run smoothly, implement group roles, and how to organize materials; discuss pacing and how to stay on schedule; learn how LABsent materials can be used for absent students or remote learning needs; and discuss how to encourage and teach students to talk in science class. |
Workshop Full Desc | Participants will experience selected lessons and activities in three kits and get to interact with the materials and online resources. The morning of the first day will include a walkthrough of the structure of a Lab-Aids kit and all of the resources available to teachers, an overview of the new NYS Science Learning Standards, 3-dimensional learning, and use of the science lab notebook, and discussion of the Intermediate level NYS Science Investigations. That afternoon participants will experience selected lessons from a kit of their choice. On the second day we will be working with selected lessons from two other kits. By the end of the two days, teachers will have a complete background of the Lab-Aids kits and experience with a total of three kits that they will be using in their classes. |
