| Seminar Short Desc | Grade 5 teachers will experience selected lessons and activities in the new Space Systems kit and get to interact with the materials and online resources in addition to an overview of the new NYS Science Learning Standards, 3-dimensional learning, and the 5E lesson structure. Teachers will share their tips and tricks related to the other three Grade 5 kits. |
| Seminar Full Desc | Grade 5 teachers will experience selected lessons and activities in the new Space Systems Advancing STEM kit and get to interact with the materials and online resources. There will be a walkthrough of the structure of an Advancing STEM kit and all of the resources available to teachers. An overview of the new NYS Science Learning Standards, 3-dimensional learning, and the 5E lesson structure will be provided. Teachers that have experience with the other three Grade 5 Advancing STEM kits will be asked to share their best practices for using the kits and have the opportunity to discuss nuances and suggestions for improvement. |

There will be a walkthrough of the structure of an Advancing STEM kit and all of the resources available to teachers. An overview of the new NYS Science Learning Standards, 3-dimensional learning, and the 5E lesson structure will be provided. Participants will take a look at vertical progressions of the 3-dimensions between grade bands and discuss interdisciplinary crossover options for the kits. Participants will also learn about the new Required Investigations released by NYS and how to incorporate them into the Advancing STEM Kits curriculum. |
