| Seminar Full Desc | Teachers will receive kit-specific training on the Advancing STEM kits for their grade level. Participants will go over each lesson in the manuals and get to interact with the materials. This training is scheduled to feature kits as follows:
Grade 4 - Parts of a Whole: Internal and External Plant and Animal Structures; Centuries of Change: Processes That Shape the Earth; Makin' Waves: Patterns of Waves and Information Transfer; Full of Potential: The Effects of Energy |
| Workshop Full Desc | Grade 4 teachers will experience selected lessons and activities in the kits and get to interact with the materials and online resources. There will be a walkthrough of the structure of an Advancing STEM kit and all of the resources available to teachers. An overview of the new NYS Science Learning Standards, 3-dimensional learning, and the 5E lesson structure will be provided. Participants will take a look at vertical progressions of the 3-dimensions between grade bands and discuss interdisciplinary crossover options for the kits. Participants will also learn about the new Required Investigations released by NYS and how to incorporate them into the Advancing STEM Kits curriculum. |
