Seminar Short Desc10 week/30 hours
Seminar Full DescThis course, in following all requirements from the New York State Education Department, is designed to take approximately 30 hours over the course of 10 weeks. This pace will differ from person to person, but it is up to you to complete all elements of the approved course even if more time is required by you. We recommend keeping pace with the course from week to week and to communicate often with your instructor if you need anything.
You will be introduced to your instructor when the course begins. Your completion of this course is of their discretion as an approved New York State instructor. Your instructor will issue a Certificate of Completion at the end of this course when they deem your work to be completed to a satisfactory level.
It is also important to understand that certain risks come with taking an online course and working with technology. You are responsible for all assignments. We recommend backing up all files by saving them to your local computer in case problems occur with the internet, software, or hardware. Again, you are responsible for all files, assignments, uploading, and technical issues. We will do our best to assist where we can.
In many ways, online courses offer so much convenience and flexibility, but know that checking for your understanding and learning in an online environment requires a commitment to content and learning that is different than an in-person training. Online courses require participants to be more active in demonstrating content mastery than they are usually used to. Keep this in mind as you progress through the course as many assignments require academic writing and written expression of thoughts. This serves as the major way your instructor knows you have processed and learned content.
This course uses a required text. A text is being sent to you in care of your Athletic Director. Please return this text at the end of your course. Completion certificates will be held until borrowed texts are returned in good condition. Required text: Martens, R. (2012). Successful coaching (4th ed.). Champaign, IL: Human Kinetics. Please contact Mary Gilbert (716-376-8227 or mary_gilbert@caboces.org) if you have questions.
It is important to complete your course once you begin. There is no way to retrieve files of canceled course accounts. Know that dropping a course could cause files to be lost or deleted.
Mary Gilbert (716-376-8227 or mary_gilbert@caboces.org) will serve as a logistical contact while you are taking this course. Please contact Mary if you need anything related to taking this course.
