Seminar Broadcast NotesAs part of your registration for this workshop, you will receive a 23 and Me DNA kit with access to ancestry, trait, and health reports. You will create a private account that only you will be able to access. The expectations are that you will submit your DNA sample for analysis by the middle of May and that you agree to share redacted copies of your ancestry and trait reports for the benefit of content learning by the group. Health reports are not expected to be shared. If you have any concerns with these expectations, please contact Amy Windus at 716-376-8285 before registering.
Seminar Objectives1. Teachers will understand how to interpret their DNA reports.
2. Teachers will understand the basis and the role of probability in the interpretation of DNA results.
3. Teachers will create, compare, and analyze data sets based on the group profiles.
4. Teachers will verify one of the traits found in the trait report using DNA biotechnology in the wet lab.
5. Teachers will discuss and plan for classroom implementation.
