Seminar Objectives-By the end of the Poverty Simulation, participants will be able to:
-Develop empathy and perspective by experiencing the complex challenges faced by individuals and families living in poverty.
Identify systemic barries that impact students' academic performance attendance behavior and family engagment.
-Apply trauma-imformed and culturally responsive strategies to better support students and families affected by economic hardship.
Work SummaryA Poverty Simulation is an interactive professional development experience designed to help educators understand the realities of living with limited financial resources. Participants role-play individuals and families navigating real-life scenarios such as employment, housing, transportation, healthcare, and education. Throughout this immersive experience educators gain insight into how economic stressors influence dicision-making, behavior, and access to opportunities. Strengthening their ability to create supportive, equitable learning environments for all students.
