Seminar Short DescDiscover how to bring real-world engineering and computer science into your classroom through project-based learning. This collaborative community will feature guest speakers, coding, GIS, spreadsheets, and more designed to boost your confidence and expand your toolkit. Collaborate with fellow educators, share cross-curricular ideas, and explore strategies to help students see how STEM connects to the world around them. Let's build meaningful learning together!
Seminar Full DescThis professional learning series is designed specifically for STEM teachers who want to deepen their understanding of engineering and bring real-world, project-based learning (PBL) into their classrooms. Together, we'll explore the nature of engineering and computer science - how the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math work together to meet human needs and solve real-world problems. Through hands-on activities, collaborative dialogue, and guest speakers from the field, we'll investigate the tools and practices used by today's engineers and computer scientists. Educators will gain experience with coding languages, GIS, spreadsheets, and data analysis, all framed within meaningful, authentic contexts students can relate to. These sessions are also a space to share and celebrate the amazing hands-on and cross-curricular learning already happening in your classrooms. We'll reflect on ways to strengthen interdisciplinary learning, introduce students to fields they may not yet know they love, and help them see how STEM connects to a wide range of career paths. Whether you're looking to build your own confidence with tools like Python or Esri, or to design mini-projects that scaffold into larger student-driven work, this workshop series offers practical support and inspiration. Let's collaborate to bring STEM to life.
