Seminar Objectives-Help Kim Hoch by answering questions, discussing concerns and whatever she needs help with
Work Summary-Resources were shleved differently than how the library circulation catalog had them labeled
-I studied the collection and asked Kim to run me a report of categories. For some reason, there were sub-collections within the elementary collection and it appeared that these were created by an aide our of convenience, I physically reshelved the entire non-fiction collection by merging all non-fiction books together. Not only did this improve the flow of shelved books but additional space was created by pulling approximately 40 books that were in deplorable condition
-I showed Kim how there was an overabundance of fairy tales and folk tales (380) versus few SEL (anger, grief, sadness, preseverance, etc.) books. We discussed using library reports for analyzing the collection and how she can advocate for additional resources. Additionally, Kim will need to request an increase for supplies since she does not have adequate book repair materials. She has been sending books to me for repair and someone, not Kim, had tried to fix books by using hot glue/glue gun and packaging tape. Not good.
