Seminar ObjectivesTO observe Rosemarie's library space and flow of student traffic for feedback, to provide support and encouragement
Work SummaryRosemarie requested I visit and observe the traffic flow of students and instructional strategies for feedback. Rosemarie also shared with me some of the database resources she uses with students. She shared 4th grade mythology research projects that were completed with Factcite's Mythology database.
Assessment of LearningThe library space is open and provides structure and relaxation. Over lunch, about 20 students came during their lunch time to participate in the book club. Students read a book and then shared highlights from that book with other students. The students really like having an option for getting out of the lunchroom where it is loud and staff "scream a lot"
Students can navigate through the library with ease but some resources can be weeded, which can lead to some bookshelves being removed and creating more open space. This is a personal preference and Rosemarie prefers to have print encyclopedias available to students. Rosemarie's circulation desk has been cleaned up and is not messy as in previous visits.
I encourage Rosemarie to share her Mythology project and a few other resources with the Librarian CLC, which she did.
