Work Summary | -Using data from a collection analysis of Hinsdale's library collection, I was able to show Kim that about 3/4 of the ms/hs collection is outdated by more than 20 years. Pulling outdated books from the shelves would make them look bare, and replacing 3/4 of the collection is not financially feasible at this time. I suggested to Kim the following steps. 1. Create a 3 year plan for the non-fiction collection. 2. Share data to make administration aware of possible future needs for the library budget.3. Invite educators to review books in their content area - science, social studies, creative arts, English, guidance counselors, and math. Ask teachers/counselors to select books from publishers' magazines that are relevant to content and not outdated. 4. Invite students to review SEL, pets, hobbies, technology, etc. and make recommendations for weeding and purchasing. 5. Take all feedback from students and teachers and finalize goals for 3 year plan. |
