| Seminar Objectives | -Michelle Lloyd had a large section of MS fiction books that she wanted to genrefy. In doing so, MS students will be able to quickly locate books of interest based on genre. |
| Work Summary | -To make room for genred books, several shelves of non-fiction books needed to be located to another part of the library. In this process, non-fiction books had to be shifted on the shelves to accommodate the new additions. All fiction books in the MS section of the library were pulled from the shelves and stacked according to genre: mystery, realistic fiction, fantasy, thrills and chills, etc. Michelle and I decided on colors to use for coding for each genre so that when genre labels arrive, they can easily be affixed to spines. After sorting, the location was changed in MARC records and books were coded and shelved in author order and by genre. |
