Seminar Full DescThe Individualized Education Program (IEP) ensures that, in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), every student has access to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). This training will provide a comprehensive overview of IEPs and develop the skills needed to write educational plans that specifically address the unique strengths and challenges of each student. Topics explored will include summarizing present levels of performance, writing measurable goals, identifying accommodations and modifications, progress monitoring, data interpretation, and reporting progress.

Seminar Objectives-Focused on developing participants' ability to write measurable and legally compliant IEP goals that align with students present levels of educational performance (PLEP)
-Participants learned how to apply indicator 13 compliance by ensuring transition - aged students have appropriate postsecondary goals and aligned services. Through engaging with case study actitivites, participants practiced analyzing student data to create meaningful, student-centered IEP goals while collaborating with colleagues to refine and improve their work
Work Summary-Training included a combination of direct instruction, hands-on application and collaborative workshop activities. Session began with an overview of best practices for goal writing.
-Participants engaged in a case study , where they were given detailed student profiles containing background information, strengths, needs and assessment data.
-Working in teams they developed SMART, measurable goals and ensured that transition goals met compliance
-Participants wrote or revised IEP goals individually, applying their learning to practical scenarios
-A peer review component allowed teams to evaluate each other's work using a structured checklist, fostering discussion and a deeper understanding of best practices
Assessment of Learning-Participants completed a self-reflection to evaluate thier confidence in their ability to analyze student data and develop appropriate goals
-Throughout the session observations provided real-time feedback on discussions and goal development
-Participants shared a revised IEP goal they created, demonstrating their ability to apply best practices independently
Evaluation Summary Notes-Training was well received. Participants found the AI tools, organizers and various resources helpful
-Many appreciated the SMART goal information, engaging graphics and the opportunity to have team discussions
Needed Changes-It would be beneficial to communicate with the district a little bit more beforehand to ensure alignment with existing training and avoid overlapping or conflictinf information
-Additionally grouping participants more intentionally could make the content more relevant to their specific roles
Next Steps-Sending a follow-up email with the slide deck, offering continued support and providing opportunities for additional sessions as needed
