Workshop Short Desc | Teachers will receive kit-specific training on the Lab-Aids kits for the middle school grade level. This training is scheduled to feature an overview of one kit that focuses on curriculum and materials and the opportunity to dive deeper into specific kits that are appropriate for their grade level. This will be a 3 day training with each day having a different domain focus: Day 1: Life Science, Day 2: Physical Science, and Day 3: Earth and Space Science. |

Workshop Full Desc | Participants will dig into the NYS Science Learning Standards, including the three dimensions, performance expectations, and engineering design aspects. The curriculum kits will be introduced and activities will be discussed and some performed. Additional activities will be done to apply the NY Science Learning Standards and three dimensions for each of the activities. Participants will leave understanding the structure of their grade level kit, hints and tips for teaching, and transforming lessons virtually. This training is scheduled to feature a general overview of one of the 16 kits. Topics of the kits include: Chemical Reactions, Chemistry of Materials, Energy, Fields and Interactions, Force and Motion, and Waves. This is part of a 3 day training with a focus being Day 1: Life Science, Day 2: Physical Science, and Day 3: Earth and Space Science. |
