Workshop Full DescThis workshop will guide participants through an engaging and accessible exploration of the graphic novel medium. Learn the importance of the format in the development of literacy and methods designed to bring graphic novels into the library and classroom. There will be time for questions, discussion, and hands-on examination of selected works. Leave with take-away resources including recommended title lists, suggested additional reading, and materials designed to assist in further exploration!
Workshop AudienceNot only geared for English teachers & School Librarians but any teacher who is interested in incorporating this genre into their curriculum.
Workshop PrerequisitesTeachers are encouraged to bring their lessons and unit plans to start to map out where they can implement graphic novel exposure into their curriculum. The afternoon will focus on this.
Workshop ObjectivesParticipants will learn how graphic novels can be used to complement the curriculum and build literacy. Participants will understand layout and receive information to guide purchasing decisions.
