Seminar Short Desc | This workshop will offer middle/high school educators ideas on how to empower students to evaluate the validity of sources and not fall for Fake News. |
Seminar Full Desc | Fake News was named the 2017 word of the year by several
organizations, including the Collins Dictionary. The purpose of this workshop is to dive into two main issues with Fake News: 1) The discrediting of sound and valid news organizations/articles and 2) the susceptibility of believing Fake News. Middle/High School educators will learn how to teach students to evaluate news sources and how to use specific tools and resources to combat issues with fake news. The workshop will also focus on bias which, although may not be creating fake news, can influence the understanding of news. |
